What is it?
There are several tests that measure how well you can sit down and stand up again. It is surprising how good such tests can be at indicating your longevity and thus where you maybe need to do some work to improve things.
This particular test was devised by Dr. Claudio Gil Araujo and our example here is presented by WeBeFit.com. The YouTube video is only 2 minutes long.
Why is it important?
There’s quite a good correlation between your score on this test and how long you are likely to live. But don’t feel that it is some sort of harbinger of doom! It is simply an indication of your current fitness level; if you have a lower score than you’d like, there are plenty of things you can do to improve it.
What are good results?
A “good” result (out of 10) is in the range 8-10. Below 3 is considered “poor”.
What can you do to improve your score?
In short, improve your overall fitness. A low score here indicates that you have areas of your fitness you need to work on: strength, balance, losing excess weight, etc. If you need help with where to start, or how to improve your fitness, speaking to a qualified personal trainer may be a good place to start – or find some good fitness training programmes online.
